Position title: Multi-lingual Certified Mental Health Counselor (part-time, contract)
We are seeking 4 counsellors with proficiency in English and one additional language. We are especially interested in candidates who can work in Arabic, Tagalog, Mandarin, or Tigrinya. Each position is for 20 hours per week. Work schedule is flexible. The initial contract will run until July 31, 2021 with the possibility of renewal. Counsellors must be registered with an appropriate professional association.
Reporting to the Manager, Mental Health and Mindfulness Projects, Counsellors will provide mental health counseling and psycho-social education to address the mental health and well-being of vulnerable Albertans by equipping them with knowledge and skills to better manage their own stress and mental health. Assisting Albertans in addressing their concerns around mental health because of COVID-19 is a key focus. All services will be provided virtually (over the phone or through video conference).
⦁ Provide on-line mental health services
⦁ Provide mental health counseling, referrals, and intervention services for individuals, groups, and/or families.
⦁ Complete and maintain documentation according to practice guidelines.
⦁ May also facilitate mental health psycho-educational workshops
The ideal candidate will have:
⦁ A graduate degree in a counselling field and registration with the appropriate professional association
⦁ Presentation skills and willingness to facilitate interactive online workshops
⦁ Excellent cross-cultural communication skills
⦁ Ability to work independently and as a positive member of a team
