LENA Start, offered by our Family Champions team, is a 10-week program for parents of little ones age 4 and under, that focuses on building early talk and interaction in our little ones. The program involves a weekly group for parents and caregivers to learn new tips and strategies to support their child’s development, in addition to one “LENA day” per week, where the child wears a small talk pedometer for the entire day. Each week, parents and caregivers receive a report of the results of the pedometer that highlights areas of strength and areas to focus improvement on. Families also get a new children’s book every week of the program and a graduation gift at the end. Families can register by emailing Marissa at familynetwork@ywcalgary.ca.
